I appreciate this careful selection, thank you. But I feel compelled to add a word of caution regarding Dawkins - in case readers are not biologists: He represent the antithesis of Feynman. While Dawkins' worldview of opposing religious irrationality is laudable, and his skills in explaining abstract biology most enjoyable, technically, his promotion of scientific rationalism, alas, rests on outdated science. His hyper-selectionism, that reduces all phenomena of the biosphere to natural selection, is considered flawed, reductionist and just naïve. Evolution biology has made enormous progress since "The Selfish Gene" by embracing theories of complex systems that Dawkins continues to deny in his gene-centric worldview. As antidote I would recommend Stuart Kauffman, Stephen J. Gould - and mostly, to capture the latest thinking of biology, Denis Noble.
